Amazingfriends

Amazing Friends is a non-profit Dog shelter in Stockholm that helps abandoned or injured dogs find better and safer homes. Amazing Friends understands dogs’ feelings and works towards their well-being until they find new owners who can give them the same joy.

Amazing Friends is an online platform that lets you adopt a dog and change their world. Our client wanted to create an online platform where people can look for dog adoption based on the information about dogs. Their vision was to create a one-stop online portal for adopting, donating to, and addressing urgent shelter needs for dogs in Stockholm.

Business Challenges

At Amazing Friends, the primary business model was based on visitors to their shelter, but they needed a digital transformation. So, designing a website that reflects their mission online becomes our priority. Creating an operational and efficient website was our duty.

    • Emotionally Disconnected Website Design: The original website failed to connect with visitors on the mission of Amazing Friends. Finding dog profiles and deciding which one to adopt was hard. The website lacked a proper storytelling layout to build trust for the shelter. Our task was to create a website design that connected with dog lovers.
    • Payment Issue: The site did not support proper payment integration, affecting the shelter’s donations. Visitors did not have the option to donate in their currency or use a different payment method.
    • Website User Experience: The original website was not optimized to improve the user experience on desktop and mobile. Often, visitors got stuck due to poor navigation and load times, and we needed to improve on a priority basis.
    • Incomplete Dog Information: People adopt when they have proper dog information, but the website lacks consistent details about each dog, such as age, background, adoption status, or adoption fees. A lack of transparency was seen on the website.
    • CMS Updates: No proper CMS was installed, resulting in delays in updating website content. The site was always inaccurate due to technical issues with every profile and page.
    • Page and Profile Categories: The dog pages and profile were not appropriately categorized. Visitors found it hard to make a potential adoption due to a lack of a dog profile. The website was poorly designed, which became a top challenge for us to solve.

Solutions

With an in-depth problem-solving session, our developers and designers propose a website update. Our final UI/UX design matched shelters' compassion with a thoughtful layout and features.

    • Emotionally Driven Design: We redesigned the WordPress website with proper landing and dog category pages. The design ensured an emotional connection with the visitor, and they stayed longer on the website, improving the visit time.
    • Payment Integration: Our developers integrated a proper donation system with PayPal, credit/debit card, and bank transfer options. We set up a recurring monthly donation scheme with currency options for Euro, USD, and Swedish Krona, featuring fixed amounts and a manual payment option.
    • Dog Information and Adoption Form: Our landing pages and dog categories feature clean and responsive dog profiles. We added a CMS that is easy for the client to update, featuring all dog information, including a mobile-friendly “Apply to Adopt” CTA directly on the website. With our adoption application form on the website, people can easily submit and process their adoption requests.
    • Backend Content Automation: A custom WordPress backend designed for Amazing Friends allows staff to update dog statuses in minutes. The admin panel made it easy to update the website with information about adoption status, stories, blogs, and other content.
    • Filtered Categories: We made it easy for visitors with a search option in the dog categories. Our website features easy navigation and a smoother journey from browsing to application for adoption.
    • Donation CTA: We added a sticky donation button at the client’s request to sponsor a specific dog, which increased user engagement and donations at the shelter.
